Sacramento State’s Nu Alpha Kappa fraternity has been selected as the first recipient of the Hornets in the Community Award sponsored by Student Activities and Wells Fargo Bank.

Wells Fargo donated $1,000 in the fraternity’s name to BloodSource of Sacramento. In August, Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity members volunteered 150 hours to the Univision television station during a community blood drive for Blood Source in Sacramento.

In addition to helping at one of the largest drives of the year by collecting more than 1,000 pints of blood, members of the fraternity served as translators for blood donors at the various stations, raised awareness of the importance of blood donation to saving lives and entertained children while their parents donated, says Karlos Santos-Coy, Student Activities program advisor for leadership programs.

The chapter has been on campus since 1996.
