The Sacramento State community gave a record amount of blood during the Causeway Classic two-day donor drive Oct. 19 and 20. The drive is a competition between the University and UC Davis. It is in its second year.

During Sacramento State’s drive, sponsored by BloodSource, 1,333 participants registered and 1,039 units of blood were collected. Last year, the two-day drive netted 1,003 participants and 816 pints. More than 200 people registered as bone marrow donors this year.

Alumni and community members can still participate in the competition by donating to one of the BloodSource locations by Wednesday, Nov. 18. If participating as an alumnus, use code L030 and the donation to count towards Sac State’s total. The code for the general public to donate for Sacramento State is L029. The winning school will be announced at the 56^th Causeway Classic Football game between Sacramento State and UC Davis 2:05 p.m. Nov. 21, at Hornet Stadium. Davis won the blood drive competition last year. Sacramento State won the game 29-19.
