Ted Lascher
Lascher is the 2009 winner of the annual Chester A. Newland Academic Excellence Award given for outstanding achievement in public administration. He will receive the honor at the chapter’s awards banquet on Thursday, May 7, at the Embassy Suites, 100 Capitol Mall in Sacramento.
The dinner begins at 7 p.m. and the award presentation follows at 8 p.m.
Lisa Beutler, the chapter’s president elect, says Lascher is a beacon in the community and through the University, has enhanced the training of administrators serving local, regional, and state agencies and the private sector.
“Ted has a sustained and ongoing commitment to public administration,” says Beutler. “He was selected for his exemplary leadership and vision in teaching, research and public service in the Sacramento region for more than 20 years.”
The chapter cited Lascher’s leadership on several important initiatives at the University, including the Doctorate in Educational Leadership, the Masters in Urban Land Development and the Certificate Program in Collaborative Governance.
Lascher’s achievements at the University have been recognized with the President’s Award for Research and Creativity (2006), the College of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies Outstanding Teaching Award (2002), the Sacramento State Research and Creative Activity Award (2002) and the Sacramento State Pedagogy Enhancement Award (1997).
The American Society of Public Administration is the nation’s leading public service organization advancing the art, science, teaching and practice of public and non-profit administration.
